This month I offer you some square necklines according to Der Goldene Schnitt (I know that this is a little late this month but here it is). I love the idea of a square neckline - it is unique and offers an interesting shape to the bodice of a plain dress. A square neckline also offers some trimming and accessory options otherwise not found in other necklines. For example, dress clips seem to look so sharp on a square (and even a sweetheart) neckline, lace and other trimmings have a nice platform to go on, and square necklines alone are seldom seen as a whole. Personally, square necklines seem to be very German too . . you will see for your self here. . . Of course, there are many American fashions that use a square neckline too . .
As of late, I have been greatly interested in adding some square necked dresses to my wardrobe and have done so already. The first page from Der Goldene Schnitt is the one I made up in a brown floral cotton. There are some other ones too I would like to make up but have yet to be really inspired yet . . just looking for the right material really. Once I have that then it is full sailing ahead . .
Anyway, enjoy! Oh yes, all images are from my 1940 and 1941 books. . . .
Made up this one and used the image to the right as my main inspiration. |
